Lincoln Park History Project Now Online!
The Lincoln Park Partners Project is a consortium of local historical organizations, working in cooperation with the Montgomery County Department of Public Libraries, in documenting and preserving the rich cultural history of one of Rockville's oldest communities. Visit the Lincoln Park History Project's Web site to view photographs, a bibliography, and other information.
Archives receives papers of Stella B. WernerOn July 27, 2000, the Archives received a donation of the personal papers of Stella B. Werner, a noted Montgomery County civic leader who served on the County Council throughout the 1950s and was its president in 1959. Mrs. Werner, who died in 1981, also was instrumental in the formation of the county's charter as well as the Departments of Public Libraries and Recreation. Mrs. Mary Werner Rose, a daughter of Mrs. Werner's, donated the papers to the Archives in a public ceremony at the Red Brick Courthouse.An exhibit of sample documents and photographs from the collection is currently on display at the Archives. Processing of the collection is now underway.

Looking for aerial photographs of Montgomery County?The Archives has over 1,200 aerial photos of the County, with indexes available for the years 1951, 1970, and 1979. Call the Archives to schedule an appointment to view them. Aerial photographs are also maintained at Peerless Rockville and at the Land Records Office of Montgomery County Circuit Court.To view March 1998 aerial images of the County online, visit the Montgomery County Digital Orthophoto Image Server, a new web site maintained by the Geographic Information Systems section of the Montgomery County Department of Information Systems and Telecommunications.
